On Tuesday, I did a quick and easy track workout. Before starting, I did some drills on the track, including A-skips, B-skips, and carioca. While doing the carioca, I felt a small twinge in my groin, but thought nothing of it, and completed the workout with no issues. Then, on Wednesday morning, I sneezed, and felt something pull, only this time it hurt. I was able to run 7 miles that morning, but was hurting later in the day. I apparently pulled a muscle in my lower abs/groin, and am going to take a few days off to let it heal.

At this point in my running career, I should know better than to do drills and a workout just a few days after racing and doing my first long run in weeks. I actually had planned to bail on the workout while on the warmup, but then changed my mind because it was supposed to just be an easy effort and nothing too strenuous. This just reinforces my idea that it is always better to err on the side of caution and take an extra rest day or skip a workout if you’re not feeling 100%.
